A Mauritian driving story

Teaching shaped by the roads of Mauritius

From the busy streets of Port Louis and Quatre Bornes to coastal roads, village junctions, mountain bends and motorway traffic, driving in Mauritius demands observation, patience and good judgement. IQ Driving School teaches learners to understand the variety of road environments found across the island.

Mauritian roads bring together urban congestion, narrow residential streets, roundabouts, pedestrian activity, buses, motorcycles, changing weather and scenic open routes. This variety makes Mauritius an exceptional place to learn adaptable, responsible driving.

45+ years of heritage

A legacy passed from one generation to another

The school’s story is rooted in more than four decades of family driving knowledge. Over the years, vehicles, testing methods and road conditions have changed, but the core values have remained the same: respect other road users, anticipate danger, stay calm and never stop learning.

That long family tradition is combined with formal instructor training, professional qualifications and modern teaching methods. The result is a school that respects its history while preparing learners for today’s Mauritian roads.

What makes instruction memorable

Teaching that adapts to the learner

Adaptability

Every learner processes information differently. Lessons are adjusted to the student’s pace, confidence, previous experience and preferred way of learning. A nervous beginner may need short repeated exercises, while a confident learner may benefit from more complex traffic situations and independent decision-making.

Respect and encouragement

People may forget the exact words used during a lesson, but they remember how the instructor made them feel. Patient, respectful and supportive coaching helps learners ask questions, admit mistakes and build safe habits without embarrassment.

Experience

Several years of teaching experience help an instructor recognise common mistakes quickly, explain one skill in different ways and prepare learners for real Mauritian traffic rather than only a test route.

Recommendations earned through service

Positive reviews and recommendations from families and former students are influential because they reflect trust. IQ Driving School aims to earn recommendations through punctuality, honest feedback, calm instruction and consistent attention to road safety.
